Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's basketball team fell to Oberlin College 60-48 on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers had 12 players enter the rotation as they looked to hand the Yeowomen their first NCAC loss of the season. Freshman Delaney Williams and Kristie Kalis led the scoring effort. Williams posting nine points on three of nine shooting from the field, and Kalis close behind with eight points and pulling down a team-high nine rebounds. Wittenberg falls to 7-9 on the season and 2-5 in NCAC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Wittenberg waited three minutes before freshman Taylor Brown broke the scoring open in the first quarter. Before going into the break trailing 31-19, Sydney Mayle and Haley Dannemiller each stepped up to score four points apiece. The Tigers were able to outscore Oberlin in the third quarter 17-15. Kalis posting six of her eight final stat line on three of five from the floor, with three rebounds and a blocked shot. Korynne Berner added three rebounds coming out of the break, finishing with five boards and seven points. Berner knocked down three of her four attempts from the field on the day.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Tigers improved from the field after knocking down just 8 of 29 attempts in the first half. Wittenberg posted 31% from the field. The Tigers were able to win on the offensive glass 9-6, collecting 34 total boards on the afternoon.

UP NEXT: Wittenberg will travel to Wooster on Saturday, Jan. 13 to take on the Fighting Scots. Tip-Off is set for 2:00 PM.
