Women's Basketball Hangs Tough With DePauw

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's basketball team welcomed the Tigers of DePauw University to Pam Evans Smith Arena on Wednesday evening, falling to the 15th team in the nation 61-47. Wittenberg kept it close after two-quarters of play, going into the break trailing DePauw 27-21. Each side went into the break shooting a matching 36% from the field. Wittenberg would end the game shooting 34% from the field and 29% from beyond the arc.

Wittenberg was led by freshman Kristie Kalis with 11 points, converting on four of seven attempts from the field. The Winnetka, Ill. native provided the Tigers with 21 minutes of support off the bench, leading the rebounding effort with six boards all coming at the defensive end of the floor.

Junior Amanda Raber went four for eight from the field for eight points. Raber added three defensive rebounds, and an assist and a steal each to her final stat line.

 

FROM THE BENCH: "It has been a tough stretch of games. Even though the W's haven't come, I am still excited to move forward with this group. We will continue to work on our process and getting better every day," said Coach Mahlum.

 

UP NEXT: Wittenberg returns to action on Saturday, December 9, with a trip to Denison. The Tigers and the Big Red are set to tip-off at 1:00 PM from Granville.
