Springfield, Ohio – Wittenberg women's basketball took down the Terriers of Hiram College 78-66 on Saturday afternoon from Pam Evans Smith Arena. Wittenberg finished with four scoring in double figures against the Terriers. Junior Sydney Mayle led the charge with a team-high 19 points on 6 of 13 shooting from the field, adding a steal and an assist each to her stat line.
Holding the Terriers to just 1 of 17 from beyond the arc on the evening. The Tigers captured the lead five minutes into the game and didn't look back. Wittenberg was able to expand on a one point, 21-20 cushion after the first ten minutes, shooting 42% from the field to take a 41-34 advantage into the intermission. Mayle and freshman Delaney Williams combined for 23 of the Tigers 41 first-half points. Leading the charge through the first 20 minutes of action, Mayle tallied 12 points on five of eight shooting from the field, as Williams wasn't far behind with 11 points adding five assists.
Williams matched her season-high with 15 points, in her second straight game logging 37 minutes of action. The freshman guard added seven rebounds, seven assists, and two steals to her total on the evening. Amanda Raber and Hannah Weaver were the final two Tigers to finish in double digits, with each finishing four of seven from the floor. Raber tallied 12 points, knocking down all four attempts from the charity stripe, adding three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Weaver totaled 10 points coming off the bench for the Tigers in 14 minutes of action, reeling in two rebounds and dishing out two assists. Cleaning up on the boards, Abigail Crum collected eight rebounds to go along with her five points in 21 minutes of action.
Wittenberg would outscore Hiram in three of the four quarters, extending their lead to as many as 15 points with under a minute to play in the third.
