Sydney Mayle Posts Double-Double In Day Two Marietta Turkey Shoot

Marietta, Ohio – Junior Sydney Mayle tallies her first career double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while freshman Kristie Kalis earns All-Tournament Team honors at the Marietta College Turkey Shoot. Kalis exploded for 24 points off the bench on 9 of 14 shooting, in the Tigers 88-76 loss to the host Pioneers of Marietta College. Wittenberg did not let a first-quarter deficit stop their fight, coming back from down 20-12 to outscore Marietta 26-21 going into the half.

Kalis only missed one attempt from the field through the first half, going six of seven from the field and three of four from deep range.  Mayle tallied half of her total in the first 20 minutes of action, along with hauling in five of her six rebounds at the defensive end of the floor. Adding two steals to her total in the second half, Mayle reeled in seven more rebounds through the final 20 minutes. As Kalis and Mayle would go on to score nine points each through the last two-quarters of play. Hannah Weaver posted her second straight double-figure game, putting up 10 points in her first start of the season for the Tigers.

FROM THE BENCH: "Faced two really good teams this weekend. I was proud of how we came ready to play today after not shooting the ball very well yesterday. We are taking steps forward as a team. We have to put a solid 40 minutes together," said Coach Kelly Mahlum.

UP NEXT: Wittenberg will return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 29 when they open up conference play at Kenyon College in an 8:00 PM showdown against the Ladies.
