Tigers Fall to Wooster in Season Finale

WOOSTER, Ohio—Wittenberg women's basketball fell to the college of Wooster 58-45 in the regular season finale on Saturday. The Fighting Scots led wire-to-wire in the contest, as the Tigers found themselves down by as many as 18 on the road. The Tigers were led by Michelle Brunswick, who recorded a double-double for the Tigers, scoring ten points and pulling down ten boards. Despite the loss, Wittenberg enters NCAC tournament play as the number seven seed, traveling to Kenyon on Tuesday, February 21 for a 7:00PM tip-off.

 GAME NOTES
  • The Tigers fell down 6-0 early on, as Bobbie Clayton put Wittenberg on the board with a jumper with 5:36 remaining in the first quarter.  
  • Wittenberg went cold for the remainder of the first quarters, as Wooster led 14-5 at intermission.
  • With 45 seconds remaining in the second quarter, Wittenberg pulled within five points after a Riley McDonald three-pointer off of a Brunswick assist made the game 25-20.
  • Trailing 30-21 at the break, Brunswick cut the Fighting Scots lead to 39-32 with 1:24 remaining in the fourth with a made elbow-jumper.
  • The Tigers would find themselves within six points in the fourth quarter, but could not close the gap, falling to Wooster 58-45 at the final buzzer.

  • As a team, the Tigers shot 22.4% from the floor, and 16.7% from the free-throw line in the season finale loss.
  • Both teams combined for 54 turnovers in the game, as 31 total points were scored off of miscues.
