SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Wittenberg women's basketball seized the day against NCAC foe Wooster on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers put together a total team effort to drop the Fighting Scots at home, as Alex Kiess put on a show from beyond the three-point line in the second half. In a game where the Tigers lead by as many as 12, Wooster hung around with the Tigers before Wittenberg was able to pull away in the fourth. The Tigers now return to action on Wednesday against the Battling Bishops of OWU in Springfield at 7:30PM.
GAME BREAKDOWN
- The Tigers led 24-21 at the break, as the Fighting Scots leading scorer was kept quiet in the first half by Wittenberg's stingy defense.
- Michelle Brunswick had a monster game for the Tigers on Saturday, as the senior pulled down 12 boards, chipped in eight points, and recorded two assists on Saturday.
- Kiess stole the show in the second half for the Tigers, as the sophomore was able to connect on three pointers on back to back trips in the third quarter to not only ignite the crowd, but extend the Tigers lead.
- For the game, Kiess managed to pour in 22 points on five of nine shooting from behind the three point arc.
- In the game, Wittenberg used their great defense to dominate Wooster, as the Fighting Scots could not get a good look at the hoop all night long.
- The Tigers outrebounded Wooster 47-28 and outscored Wooster 20-18 in the paint.
- Despite turning the ball over 24 times, Wittenberg managed to take advantage of great offensive rebounding, scoring 19 second chance points.
