Tigers Dominate MSJ in Tournament Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Wittenberg Women's basketball opened up the Charles B. Zimmerman Memorial Classic against Mount St. Joseph in a big way on Thursday afternoon. The Tigers held MSJ to a Kiwanis Tournament record-low 29 points in a 73-29 victory. The Tigers were dominant on the glass, and capitalized on a plethora of MSJ turnovers on their way to a big victory. Wittenberg led by as many as 44 in the contest, as the Tigers now play Mount Union at 4:30PM on Friday, December 30 in the championship of the Charles B. Zimmerman Memorial Classic.

GAME NOTES

  • Amanda Raber paced the Tigers off the bench with a career high 17 points on five of eight shooting, while also recording three three-pointers, six steals and five rebounds.  
  • The Tigers also saw some familiar faces return to the lineup from injury in Riley McDonald and Madison Linn.
  • Alex Kiess chipped in 12 points for Wittenberg in the big-win, knocking down two three-pointers while pulling down five boards.
  • Haley Dannemiller led the Tigers with 10 rebounds, while Michelle Brunswick chipped in nine as the Tigers outrebounded MSJ 51-24 in the game.
  • As a team, Wittenberg shot 45% from the floor, and 39% from beyond the three-point line.
  • Wittenberg was dominant in nearly every facet of Thursday's contest, forcing 21 turnovers and scoring 30 points off of those MSJ miscues.
