Tigers Come Up Short Against Hiram on the Road; 54-50

HIRAM, Ohio—Wittenberg women's basketball entered Saturday's NCAC matchup against Hiram coming off of gut-check victory over the Gators of Allegheny the night before, 73-70. Wittenberg found themselves on the other end of the scenario, dropping the contest 54-50 to the Terriers, in a game where Hiram led by as many as 15 early on. The Tigers now sit 3-4 overall, and 1-2 in NCAC play, with an NCAC contest of DePauw next on the schedule for the team. 

GAME NOTES

  • Liz Tolliver paced the Tiger offense on Saturday, netting 18 points on a slick six of nine shooting, while pulling down nine boards, two steals and two assists.  
  • Wittenberg led by two points early on in the first-quarter, but the Terriers were able to jump out to a 15 points lead later on in the second-quarter, as the Tigers were forced to play catchup for the remainder of the game.
  • Saturday's contest featured two ties and three lead changes, as both teams combined to turn the ball over 43 times in the contest.
  • Wittenberg and Tolliver's efforts off the bench helped outscore the Terriers 25-15 in bench points.
  • For the Tigers, Bobbie Clayton and Sydney Mayle each chipped in eight points in the team's efforts.
