Women's Basketball Loses at Home to Case Western

SPRINGFIELD, OHIO-- The Wittenberg Tigers fell to 2-4 on the season, dropping one of their final out of conference games against the Spartans of Case Western Reserve University 51-42. Wittenberg found an early lead after the first quarter, as the Spartans got their second wind through the final minutes of the first half and throughout the game.

Becca Ziska (Brook Park, Ohio/Berea-Midpark) was the main contributor to the Tiger offense, adding 14 points to the Tigers total and knocking down 4 of 10 from long range.

 

GAME BREAKDOWN

  • The Tigers gained the lead in the first quarter and went up by seven, but couldn't maintain the lead.
  • The Tigers shot the ball well from beyond the arc, as 3 point % was the only statistical category Wittenberg won on the day, beating out the Spartans 26-22 percent.
  • The difference came from the points in the paint as Case Western scored 24 of their total points inside.
  • Wittenberg found help from their bench, as they outscored the Spartans reserved 12-9.

  • The Tigers finished with seven steals on the day, trailing their opposition by only one.
  • Case Western won the rebounding game hauling in 38 rebounds to Wittenberg's 32. Taylore Bundy (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) and Michelle Brunswick (Middletown, Ohio/Madison) brought down six boards each of their own.
