CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's basketball team fell to Case Western Reserve by a score of 66-55 on Saturday afternoon, but the Tigers' season-opening five-game winning streak did not end without a fight.

The Tigers fell to 5-1 on the season after posting the best start since 1993-94, when Wittenberg won its first seven games.

On Saturday, the Spartans scored the first nine points of the game. The Tigers welcomed the challenge, however, fighting back over the next 12 minutes to a 21-19 deficit thanks in part to seven points by senior Katelyn Haralamos (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) during the stretch.

Case Western responded with back-to-back baskets before striding to a 31-24 halftime lead. From there, the Spartans expanded on the lead with a 35-31 second half, holding on to improve to 3-2 on the season.

Haralamos led the Tiger lineup in scoring with 18 points and a shooting mark of 7-for-12 from the field with one three-point goal and 3-for-4 at the free throw line. Senior Heather Schroeder (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora) contributed nine points on 4-for-7 shooting and sophomore Riley McDonald (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) scored eight points on a matching field goal line.

Freshman Haley Dannemiller (Cleves, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) grabbed a team-best nine rebounds and was one of three players to finish with two assists.

The Tigers open their North Coast Athletic Conference schedule on the road against Ohio Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
