SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Points were hard to come by in Pam Evans Smith Arena as the Wittenberg Tigers came up on the short end of a 49-37 defensive slugfest against visiting Franklin.

The Tigers were held to just 27 percent shooting from the field (16-of-60) as they headed into a 10-day holiday break with a record of 3-6. Franklin improved to 7-3 on the 2012-13 campaign.

Wittenberg started well enough offensively, hitting six of their first 11 shots. But after taking a 9-6 lead, the Tigers managed just 3-of-14 the rest of the way as Franklin took a 27-21 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Tigers trailed just 37-34 with 9:38 remaining in the game when someone placed a lid over the basket at the east end of the arena. Wittenberg managed just one basket the rest of the way as Franklin pulled away for the 12-point win.

Wittenberg made just one shot from three-point range in the game, that coming in the late going from freshman Taylore Bundy (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange), the first field goal of her collegiate career. In addition, the Tigers did little to help themselves from the free throw line, finishing 4-of-9.

Individually, sophomore Katelyn Haralamos (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) led with 11 points, while sophomore Enri Small (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus School for Girls) added 10 points, five rebounds and three steals in 18 quality minutes off the bench. Sophomore Amber Lara (Oak Park, Ill./River Forest) finished with six points, two assists, two steals and a team-best seven rebounds, although Wittenberg was outpaced on the boards by a 46-34 margin.

All eight Franklin players who saw action in the game scored at least two points, led by Nichole Thompson with 17 off the bench. Jess Prewett was tops in rebounds with 10.
