Wittenberg Goes Cold In Loss At Thomas More

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — The Wittenberg Tigers travelled about two hours south on Wednesday. Unfortunately, their shooting touch went even further in the same direction, leading to a 45-36 loss to host Thomas More College.

The loss dropped Wittenberg to 2-3 on the young season, while the Saints improved to 5-1 overall. The Tigers are back in action Saturday for a key North Coast Athletic Conference match-up with Wooster. Tip time is 2 p.m. in the HPER Center Arena.

This game featured seven lead changes, but the last one came with 9:14 left in the game as Thomas More's Tangie Sellers canned a three-pointer to erase a 28-26 Wittenberg advantage. The Tigers scored just three points in a span of more than nine minutes, allowing Thomas More to slowly open up the lead.

The Tigers made just 28 percent of their shots, including a 1-of-15 performance from three-point range. In addition, Wittenberg was outrebounded 44-33, although the Tigers did force Thomas More into 27 turnovers.

Junior post Katie Gregorevich (Northfield, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) led Wittenberg with 10 points and six rebounds. Senior post Kathy Hittle (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) added a team-highs of three steals and eight boards.

Sellers and Megan Wood each had 10 points to lead Thomas More.
