Tigers Win Kiwanis-Wittenberg Holiday Classic Over Marian

The Wittenberg University Tigers captured the championship of their tournament for the first time since 1998 with a hard-fought 70-60 win over Marian College.

The Tigers, who improved to 7-3 on the season, won for the second straight time in the 2001 tournament with opportunistic offense and a scrappy defensive effort. Wittenberg was paced offensively by junior guard Stephanie Campbell, who hit for 18 points and distributed three assists and was named Tournament MVP for her efforts. Junior guard Kate Rolf also was named to the all-tournament team and finished with 16 points and six rebounds.

Marian, which fell to 9-6 overall, was paced by all-tournament team choice Amanda McIntosh, who knocked down 9-of-16 shots from the field to finish with a game-high 19 points. Megan Dean came off the bench to add 13 points and Shanie Smith finished with 11 tallies.
