Tigers Fall 4-2 to Central (IA)

TUSCON, Arizona—Wittenberg fell to Central College in the back end of a double-header on Wednesday 4-2. In a game that saw both starting pitchers go the distance, and all the scoring take place in the first two innings, Chelsea Zang scattered seven hits, while Wittenberg's defense played a full game of error free softball. Wittenberg got on the board in the first inning, as Zang smacked an RBI single to left field, followed by Central walking in a run with the bases loaded a batter later.

OFFENSIVE NOTES: Four different Tigers recorded base hits on Wednesday, as Lauren Buelow and Elise Freeland accounted for four of the Tiger's hits. Zang recorded the lone RBI base hit for the Tigers, while Missy Lee drew a bases loaded walk to score Zang in the opening frame. Wittenberg struck out three times and walked for, while stranding seven in the close contest.

DEFENSIVE NOTES: In six innings of work in the circle, Zang walked two and struck out two, as Central did all of their damage in the second inning. With two runners on, Central smacked a bases clearing triple to take a 3-2 lead, before an RBI ground out plated their fourth and final run of the contest.

UP NEXT: Wittenberg is back tomorrow against Rockford College and Bethany Lutheran.
