Tigers Fall to Titans in Extra Inning Affair

TUSCON, Arizona—Wittenberg continued their Arizona tour with a matchup against Wisconsin-Oshkosh University on Sunday, as the Tigers fell 4-3 in eight innings. The Tigers and Titans were at a 2-2 stalemate for most of the afternoon, as Wittenberg scratched across run in the top of the eighth to take a 3-2 lead. The Titans bounced back in the bottom of the frame, scoring two runs on a triple and an RBI single to win the game in walk-off fashion.

OFFENSIVE NOTES:  Wittenberg cut into the Titans 2-0 lead in the top of the second after executing a double-steal that saw Missy Lee take second, and Abby Curnutte steal home. Trailing 2-1 for most of the middle innings, Cassidy Rowe brought the game to 2-2 in the top of the sixth after doublings home Elise Freeland. Wittenberg took their short-lived lead in the top of the eighth with an RBI single from Freeland, as Briana Gibson scored on the play. Both Lee and Freeland paced the Tigers with two hits each, as both Tigers also recorded a triple in the extra-inning loss. As a team, the Tigers stranded five on base in a game that saw the red and white record seven hits as a team.

DEFENSIVE NOTES: Wittenberg cut down their errors in the extra-inning contest, as Wittenberg recorded one miscue in the game. Wittenberg's senior hurler Abby Haab tossed 7.1 innings, scattering seven hits and three earned runs in the game. Oshkosh's starter went the distance on Sunday, logging eight innings of work, striking out three Tigers and walking one.
