#23 Wittenberg Moves to 12-0 in NCAC Play with Sweep of Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio—Wittenberg moved to 12-0 in NCAC play in commanding fashion on Saturday against the Yeowomen of Oberlin. Shortening both games to five innings was the Tigers offense, as the Tigers won 11-3 and 10-0. Chelsea Zang and Abby Haab handled the Yeowomen's offense on Saturday, as Zang moved to 17-1 on the year and Haab 8-3. At 26-4 and 12-0, Wittenberg is back in action on Tuesday at the College of Wooster.

GAME ONE SCORING BREAKDOWN

Top 1st

  • Zang broke the ice for Wittenberg, singling to centerfield and scoring Abby Curnutte on the play.
  • Zang later scored in the inning, as Victoria Toetz singled up the middle.
  • Katy Baumgartner kept the inning going with an RBI single to left field, as Cassidy Rowe came around to score.
  • Putting the finishing touches on the first inning was Wendy Hawk, as the freshman doubled to right-field, scoring Baumgartner and Toetz.

Top 4th

  • After reaching on a fielder's choice, Baumgartner's batted ball to the shortstop resulted in two unearned runs in the form of Rowe and Zang.  

Top 5th

  • Wittenberg was not done yet, as Casey Hobbs led off the inning with an RBI single up the middle, plating Olivia Hopkins.
  • Toetz followed up Hobbs with an RBI double to right field, plating Curnutte.
  • Baumgartner reached first on a throwing error, as Zang came around to score on the play.

GAME TWO SCORING BREAKDOWN

Top 1st

  • Curnutte broke the ice for Wittenberg in game two, slugging homerun to deep center field.
  • Toetz crossed home plate on a base hit up the middle from Haab, as the Tigers led 2-0.

Top 2nd

  • Curnutte slugged her second extra base hit of the game with a two RBI double to center field, scoring Hobbs and Hawk on the play.

Top 3rd

  • Haab kept the scoring going for Wittenberg, singling down the right field line, scoring Rowe.
  • Baumgartner came around to score for the Tigers on a fielder's choice by Hawk.
  • Lauren Buelow recorded a hit for the Tigers to left field as Haab scored on the play.
  • Curnutte was not done mopping up the RBI's for the Tigers, recording a sacrifice fly scoring Hawk on the play.

Top 5th

  • Curnutte slugged her second home-run of the day, plating Hobbs as the Tigers too an 11-0 lead.
