Tigers Claw Past Polar Bears in Nightcap
LEESBURG, Florida—Wittenberg softball handled business in the nightcap of the season opener on Monday. Playing their second OAC opponent of the day, Ohio Northern University, Wittenberg downed the Polar Bears 4-1. The Tigers utilized a clutch three-run second inning to upend ONU, as the Tigers recorded six hits in the game to ONU's four. Wittenberg improves to 2-0 on the young season, as the Tigers return to action against Mount Union tomorrow morning.

  • Rachel Black slugged a double in the bottom of the second that propelled the Tigers into an early 2-0 lead after striking out in order in the first inning.
  • In the top of the seventh, Casey Hobbs singled home Abby Curnutte to extend the Tiger lead to 4-1.
