Tigers Split Home Opener With Nationally Ranked John Carroll

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Quality, not quantity. The Tigers proved that cliche true as they clipped Ohio Athletic Conference power John Carroll 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader inspite of only two hits. The Blue Streaks battled back to earn the split with a 8-3 topping of the Tigers in the rematch.

Ironically, neither of the two hits factored into the winning run in the Tigers' upset of nationally-ranked JCU. A pair of Blue Streak errors in the seventh inning allowed the first two runners to reach before Tori Amicon (Galloway, Ohio/Hilliard DarbY) sacrificed home the winning run.

Senior Rachael Hatcher (West Carrollton, Ohio/West Carrollton) tossed a gem, scattering eight hits in her complete game shutout.

The second contest saw more offense, but most of it came from the visitors as Wittenberg's Jade Chivington (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellefontaine) tried to kick-start the batting order with an RBI double.

The split moves the Tigers to 4-10 heading into a midweek trip to Cincinnati to face the COllege of Mount St. Joseph on Tuesday, March 24 at 3:30 p.m.
