Pair of Polar Opposite Contests Result in Tiger Split

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - In a tale of two different contests, the Tiger women traded wins with Transylvania from Betty Dillahunt Field, dropping the first 6-0 before blanking the Pioneers in game two, 4-0.

Game 1 included dominant pitching from the visitors as the Tigers only managed four hits, two from sophomore leadoff hitter Jessi Allen (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley).

With a lineup shake-up in the second meeting, the Tigers generated offense on timely hitting and aggressive base-running. Freshman Katelyn Davis (Bethesda, Ohio/Liberty Union) drove in her first career RBI, staking the Tigers to the early lead. One inning later, a two-RBI double from junior Cameron Catalfu (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) provided more than enough breathing room for the Tiger defense.

Senior Rachael Hatcher (West Carrollton, Ohio/West Carrollton) cruised in the win, giving up only three hits while striking out four. The split gears the Tigers up for a pivotal NCAC set with rival Ohio Wesleyan this Tuesday, April 7 at 3:30 p.m. from Delaware.
