Mary Pfeifer

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Wittenberg sophomore women's cross country runner Mary Pfeifer (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) ran in the NCAA Division III Championship Meet Saturday, posting a 67th-place finish to cap off the Tigers' 2009 season.

Pfeifer's finish represents Wittenberg's best women's performance in the national meet since Abi Gerstle was 54th in the 2002 event. Pfeifer posted a time of 23:16.2 in the field of 280 of Division III's best runners. Gerstle went to the national championships three times, in 2000, 2001 and 2002.

Pfeifer's appearance in the national championships represents Wittenberg's fourth overall appearance in the women's event.
