Tigers Wrap Up Trip To Virginia

Roanoke, Virginia - The Wittenberg men's volleyball continued their challenging non-conference schedule on Day 2 of an event hosted by Roanoke College. The Tigers lost to the host Maroons 3-1 and NCAA Division II scholarship program Lees-McRae.

The losses concluded an 0-3 weekend for the Tigers, who were defeated by the fourth-ranked team in NCAA Division II, Southern Virginia, on Friday. For the season, Wittenberg stands 1-4, with the Tigers' other defeat coming against St. John Fisher, which opened the season ranked in the top 20 in NCAA Division III.

Against Roanoke, the set scores were 25-21, 15-25, 25-20, 25-19. The Tigers were led offensively by Michael Yurk (Indianapolis, IN / Bishop Chatard) with 17 kills, followed by Tom Supan (Medina, OH / Medina) with 11 kills, and Reese Monnin (Xenia, Ohio/Carroll) with eight kills. Andrew diaz de Padilla () dished out 30 assists, and Yurk led the team defensively with eight digs.

Against Lees-McRae, Yurk was the leader in kills again with 10, followed by Moose Harper (Columbus, OH / Western Reserve Academy) with six kills and Monnin with five kills. Sam Richardson (Akron, OH / Walsh Jesuit) handed out 16 assists, and Richardson was joined by Dominic Smith (Clayton, OH / Northmont) with 10 digs in the game to lead the Tigers.
