Sellers Tabbed As AMCC Athlete Of The Week


The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's and women's basketball, swimming and diving, and men's volleyball for the period running from January 21-27, 2019.

Men's Volleyball: Wittenberg MH Ashton Sellers made his way back on the court for the Red and White, earning All-Tournament Team Honors from the Juniata Tournament. Sellers collected 33 kills over the final two matches against Daemen and host Juniata. In three matches, he averaged 3.8 kills per set while swinging at a .333 clip.

Women's Swimming: Alfred State SO Kathryn Lewis picked up two individual first-place finishes, along with a first-place relay finish, while also setting a pool record over the weekend. Lewis won the 1650 free in 20:09.57 and the 500 free in 5:44.39 at the Pioneer Invitational. Her time in the 1650 free is a new pool record. She was also part of the winning 200 medley relay team that won in 2:04.79.

Women's Diving: Alfred State JR Sarah Stevens swept a pair of diving events by winning the 1m with 304.50 points and the 3m with 282.65 points at the Pioneer Invitational. At the Ithaca Diving Invitational, she was 9th in both the 1m (307.00) and the 3m (277.60) competitions. She also won the 200 breast in 2:54.51 at the Pioneer Invitational.

Men's Swimming: Alfred State JR Tim Olin led the way by winning three individual events as Alfred State won the Pioneer Invitational on Saturday. He won the 100 back in 58.65, the 50 free in 23.23, and the 200 back in 2:14.33. He was also part of the 2nd place 200 medley relay team (1:47.56) and the 2nd place 200 free relay team (1:35.30).

Men's Diving: Alfred State SO Austin Miller won both the 1m (351.40) and the 3m (392.05) at the Pioneer Invitational and then was 3rd in the 3m (411.30) and 6th in the 1m (354.30) at the Ithaca Diving Invitational.

Women's Basketball: La Roche F Jenna Cole helped La Roche to a 2-1 record last week, averaging a double-double with 20.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Cole picked up a pair of double-doubles, with 17 points and 13 rebounds in Wednesday's victory over Pitt-Greensburg, and 25 points and 11 rebounds in Saturday's victory over D'Youville. Cole also added three assists and two steals in the victory over the Bobcats. She currently leads the AMCC in scoring with 19.8 points per game. 

Men's Basketball: La Roche PG Zach Gould led the Redhawks to a 3-0 week to keep La Roche undefeated in conference play at 12-0. Gould averaged 21.3 points, 5.3 three-pointers, and 3.7 assists per game in three conference victories. He opened the week with a 23 point, four assist performance in a Monday victory at Hilbert. He then scored 24 points and hit six three-pointers in a Wednesday win over Pitt-Greensburg. Gould capped the week with a 17 point, seven assist, three steal output in Saturday's victory over D'Youville.
