Cincinnati, Ohio – The Wittenberg University men's volleyball team took on the Lions of Mount St. Joseph University, falling in a tough three-set battle [25-22, 25-21, 29-27]. The Tiger's tallied a positive attacking percentage in all three sets of the match, finishing with a .144 kill percentage. The Wittenberg offense was led by Mason Moldovan recording 12 kills on 16 attack attempts with just two errors for a .625 attacking percentage. Isaiah Brock and Deion Woodson each added 10 kills apiece. Brock finished with an efficient .529 attacking percentage, converting on 17 total attacks with just one error.
GAME ONE
Wittenberg tallied a .162 attacking percentage in the first set against the Lions, converting 37 total attacks for 14 kills and eight errors. The Lions took an early 4-1 lead, as Wittenberg battled back to bring the game even at 5-5 on the Moldovan service run. The two sides traded points back and forth going to 9-9, 14-14, 15-15, 20-20. As the Lions finally took the advantage after 22-22 each.
GAME TWO
Coming out in the second game with a .160 attacking percentage, converting on 25 total attacks, 12 kills and eight errors. The Tigers had to battle back against the Lions to start the second set, bringing the score back to even at 5-5 off of the kill from Brock. The Lions took advantage of a missed Wittenberg service, as they would start to extend their lead early in the second set. Wittenberg kept it close, holding the Lions at the game-point mark, and going on their own service streak to end the set.
GAME THREE
Recording a .119 attacking percentage in the third set, converting 42 total attacks for 17 kills with 12 errors. The Tigers were not done in the third set, trading points with the Lions up to 6-6 before going out to a 13-9 advantage on the three consecutive Deion Woodson serves. After Mount. St. Joseph would crawl back to back it a 14-12 game, Wittenberg would find another spark of energy to take a 18-13 lead, before extending their advantage even further out to 22-14. The Lions would find their offense late in the game, scoring six unanswered points to bring the score to 22-20.
