Tigers Wrap Up Regular Season with Split Against North Central

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Wittenberg concluded the 2017 campaign with a split against MCVL foe North Central. The Tigers managed to finish the year at 9-10 in MCVL conference play, and 14-18 overall. The Tigers second campaign as a varsity sport was full of ups and downs, but strong play by the team made up of mostly freshman and sophomores gives great hope for the program's continued growth in the near future.

 

MATCH NOTES

  • The Tigers first match against North Central swayed in the Tigers favor, as the young squad managed to muster up a 3-1 victory.  
  • Three Tigers saw three players record double-digit kills, as Max Baker recorded 11 kills, Joel Sotos 12, and Justin Luby 12 in the victory.
  • Teddy Hesterman paced the Tigers in the victory with 12 digs, while Ross Russell recorded 25 assists.
  • As a team, the Tigers recorded a kill-percentage of .290, while Sotos paced the Tigers with a .435 percentage.
  • Wittenberg's 2017 campaign featured a stretch from March to April where the Tigers went 10-5, and found their groove offensively, racking up MCVL conference victoires along the way.
