Tigers Have Record Day At All-Ohio Championships

Westerville, OH - The Wittenberg Tigers Track and Field Team traveled to Otterbein University for the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday afternoon. The day was filled with fast times and tough competition where the teams were able to see not only schools from the NCAC, but also the OAC and HCAC conferences.

To start the day off on the men's side, the Distance Medley Relay team of Ryan Zimmerman, Chance Keller, Caden Zellner, and Evan Cordle, finished earned a fourth-place finish, running a time of 10:46.21. The Tigers were able to lower their own school record in the Men's 4x200 meter relay which included Matthew Drovdlic, Zeke Bennett, Rashon Edwards, and Matt Rogers. They claiming a second-place finish with a time of 1:31.06. Individuals who were able to finish in the top five were Ian McCandlish who took the top spot in the 800-meter dash, and fellow Tiger Deven Ramsey finishing in third-place. Freshmen Conor Kolka lowered his own 3,000-meter school record to 8:33.90 and claimed a podium spot with a third-place finish. To wrap up the day the men's 4x400 relay of Edwards, McCandlish, Zellner, and Ramsey, took another podium spot finishing 2nd with a time of 3:27.58.

The women were able to keep the momentum going throughout the day. Sophomore Corin Turkovich ran 18:49.10 to finish in the top spot in the women's 5,000 meter run. Lindsey Magoteaux finished in 6th in the 60 meter dash running 8.09. The DMR team of Sydney Khosla, Lainee Valentine, Reese Hartsaugh, and Lauren Welker grabbed another podium spot finshing 3rd with a time of 13:18.82. In high jump Hannah Schartz jumped to a 3rd place finish at 1.63 meters. To wrap up the weekend Lainee Valentine finished in 4th place for the women's pentathlon.

The next two weeks will be big days for the Wittenberg track and field team. Next weekend February 19th, is the Wittenberg Invitational and is also Senior Day at noon in the Steemer. The following weekend is the NCAC Championships were the Tigers are set to host the conference.
