Plikerd Places 4th; Guyer 6th at All-Ohio Multi-Event Championships

New Concord, Ohio – The Wittenberg University Track & Field team was represented by a pair of athletes over the weekend at the 2019 All-Ohio Multi-Events Championships, hosted at Muskingum University in New Concord.

On the men's side, sophomore Zach Guyer finished sixth out of eight total athletes with 4,259 total points in the 2019 All-Ohio Men's Decathlon event. Guyer made his mark over the course of the two days in the throwing events inside the decathlon, highlighted by finishing first in the shot put competition with a heave of 10.36 meters. He then placed second in the javelin with a toss of 39.43 meters and fourth overall in the discus with a distance of 24.47 meters. He also added a fourth-place showing in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.24 seconds and a fifth-place effort in the high jump after clearing 1.70 meters.

Freshman Stevie Plikerd, who finished fifth overall in the 2019 Indoor All-Ohio Pentathlon, placed fourth out of six competitors over the weekend in the outdoor heptathlon with 3,786 total points. Her top individual performance inside the heptathlon came in the long jump as she finished first overall with a season-best jump of 5.12 meters. She also finished second in both the shotput competition and the 200-meter run with a distance of 10.20 meters in the shot put and a time of 27.27 in the 200 meters. She also finished third in the javelin with a toss of 26.23 meters to go along with fourth-place showings in the 800-meter run (2:41.55), high jump (1.45 meters) and 100-meter hurdles (18.53 seconds).

The entire Wittenberg track & field squad will now travel to Delaware, Ohio, next Saturday (4/13) for the annual All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University inside historic Selby Stadium.
