Witt Track & Field Sets Record Day At Denison

Granville, Ohio – The Wittenberg track and field team took part in the Denison Last Chance Meet on Friday night. The Tigers broke two school records again this week, as Tyler Gittins broke his mark at the 60m hurdle and D'Anthony Dorsey set a new record in the weight throw.  Dorsey's previous mark was posted at 15.38m and has now been extended out to 15.58m. With a time of 8.43 in the 60m hurdles last week, Gittins broke his own record with a time at the Last Chance meet with a time of 8.40.

As Gittins would claim first in the 60m hurdles, Wittenberg would still take the top three spots in the race with Kyle Farnbauch coming in at 8.63 and Marcus O'Neal crossing the line in 8.74. Gittins (22.78) and Farnbauch (23.45) would finish with a first and second finish in the 200m dash, followed by Matt Entsminger with a 24.05 in seventh place.  Taking the four, five, six spots in the 60m dash Wittenberg saw Tyler Branton (7.19) finish in fourth, Entsminger (7.26) cross in fifth, and Brandon Johnson (7.28) take sixth. Senior Charles Rodeheffer crossed the line in the mile run in a time of 4:35.64 followed close behind by Jersson Pachar in a time of 4:41.45. Maurice Graham claimed fourth place in the 400m run with a time of 55.01.

Ryelee Clary won her 60m hurdles race with a time of 9.41. With a second-place finish in the triple jump, Nia Gilbert posted a jump of 8.91m. Alissa Spears took third-place in the long jump event with a leap of 4.35.  Marteana Newton took two top-five finishes on the evening with a 60m dash in a time of 8.29 and the 200m in 27.23. Clary would cross the line in the 200m in a time of 28.98 as Tiara Avant took sixth in the 60m dash with a time of 8.54. Anna Lebold crossed the line for the 400m in a time of 1:03.44 for a third-place finish.

Dorsey would finish the weight throw with a mark of 15.58 and a fourth-place finish followed close behind by Curtis Quimby with a distance of 14.39 for a sixth-place finish. With a second-place finish in the shot put event and a heave of 13.73, Dorsey would be the only to place in the event. Freshman Hannah Eley posted a mark of 13.82 in the weight throw event for a third-place finish, along with Sydney Granito finishing with a mark of 11.31 for an eighth-place finish. With a toss of 10.06m, Eley earned a seventh-place finish in the shot-put event. Wittenberg rounded out the field events with Zach Guyer and Marcus Adams earning seventh and eighth spots respectively in the long jump with distances of 5.30m and 4.91m.
