Wittenberg Track & Field Takes On Joe Banks Invitational

Ada, Ohio – The Wittenberg University track and field team took part in the Joe Banks Invitational at Ohio Northern University over the weekend. The women's team scored 38.5 points to place sixth amongst the 14 competitors. The men's team brought in 42 points for a ninth-place finish in the field of 13 teams.

Tyra Barnes and Marteana Newton crossed the line in the third and fourth spots in the 400m dash. Barnes posting a time of 1:00.85 and Newton finishing in 1:00.86. Alexis Gray earned a fourth-place finish in the 800m run for the Tigers, finishing in a time of 2:22.78. Olivia Stevens captured a fourth-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a final time of 9.62.

Wittenberg found success in the field events again this week, as Alexis Johnson took third place in the long jump with a leap of 5.05m.

Tyler Branton posted a fifth-place finish in the 60m dash in a final time of 7.19. Branton followed up with a sixth-place finish in the 200m dash in a time of 23.28. Tyler Gittins grabbed a third-place finish in the 400m dash in a time of 51.33. Charles Rodeheffer posted a time of 9:03.99 in the 3000m run for a third-place finish. Kyle Farnbauch finished in the third spot in the 60m hurdles with a final time of 8.63.

Zach Guyer picked up a sixth-place finish in the long jump, coving a distance of 6.29m. D'Anthony Dorsey posted a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 13.65m.

 

UP NEXT: Wittenberg will be back in action at the All-Ohio Invitational at Otterbein University on Saturday, February 10.
