GAMBIER, Ohio – Tiger Track and Field teams traveled to Kenyon College to compete in their Spring Invitational on Saturday. Competing against a number of conference teams in preparation for the upcoming conference championship, Wittenberg took second for the men and fourth for the women of seven teams each. In addition, Tyra Barnes, Tyler Gittins, and Cody Shutt competed in the Jesse Owens Classic against athletes across all NCAA divisions.

MEN'S TOP 8'S

• Matt Entsminger claimed first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.21 seconds. Following behind was junior Thomas Pyle in seventh at 11.89 seconds.
• Entsminger also took second in the 200 meter dash, clocking in at 22.89 seconds. Sophomore Jalen Fultz finished afterwards at 23.45 seconds for fifth place.
• Freshman Alex Sheppard took a last second victory in the 400 meter dash with a final time of 50.69 seconds. Teammate Ryan Hale took fourth with his 51.74 second finish.
• In the 1,500 meter run, sophomore Kenny Mayes found himself a push to reach second place with a time of 4:14.40.
• Kyle Farnbauch led the Tigers in the 110 meter hurdles, finishing 15.73 seconds for second place. On his heels was freshman Marcus O'Neal, clocking in at 15.77 seconds for fourth.
• Farnbauch led the field in the 400 meter hurdles, claiming a final time of 56.35 seconds in his first place victory. The Tigers also claimed fourth and seventh with Garrin Bachinski at 1:00.72 and O'Neal at 1:02.32.
• Sophomore Sutton Jacobs takes eighth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, finishing the day with a time of 11:28.53.
• With a second place finish, the men's 4x400 team of Fultz, Hale, Sheppard, and Aaron Rutherford crossed the finish line at 3:31.66.
• Jardyan Mitchem led overall for the Tigers, reaching a height of 4.10 meters for the first place victory. Teammates Keaton Snow and Alex Owens came in fourth and sixth respectively, vaulting 3.80 and 3.05 meters.
• Pyle also leaped a distance of 5.55 meters for his fifth place win in long jump.
• D'Anthony Dorsey won overall in men's shot put with a comfortable throw of 13.91 meters. Freshman Jonathon Seay rounded out the Tigers in the event, finish seventh with his throw of 12.05 meters.
• In discus throw, Curtis Quimby followed through with a fourth place finish after a distance of 38.94 meters. In sixth place was Seay, throwing 34.26 meters.
• Dorsey also pulled out a second place win in the hammer throw, with his best toss being 44.76 meters. Once again in sixth with a throw of 37.62 meters was Seay.

WOMEN'S TOP 8'S

• Alaina Longshore and Samantha Mitchell raced their way to a photo finish in the 200 meter dash, clocking in at 26.84 and 26.85 seconds respectively for third and fourth place.
• Longshore also claimed a first place victory in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.02. Following behind was teammate Katelyn McCohn in fifth place with a tie of 1:03.55.
• Although finishing a hundredth of a second behind first, Olivia Stevens placed over conference competition in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.69 seconds.
• Kyla McGee, sophomore, places fifth with a time of 14:15.58 in her first career 3,000 meter steeplechase race.
• Tiarra Avant, McCohn, Mitchell, and Stevens made up the women's 4x400 meter relay team, timed in at 4:23.11 for fourth place.
• Freshman Gabrielle Draginoff tied for second in pole vault, reaching a height of 3.00 meters. McCohn claimed seventh, vaulting 2.40 meters.
• Stevens took fifth in long jump, leaping a distance of 4.58 meters.
• Throwing for 28.79 meters, freshman Ashley Highfield took eighth in women's discus.
• Anissa Dann, junior, reached second place on her best throw of the day of 43.13 meters.
• Frankie Bowsher, Dann, Leah Hilley, and Avant all competed in javelin. Senior thrower Bowsher led the Tigers with her 29.84 meters thrown for third place.

JESSE OWENS CLASSIC

• Barnes, competing in a field of 44, placed second in her heat and 24th overall for the 400 meter dash. The freshman ran a time of 58 seconds flat, her second best of the outdoor season.
• Gittins claimed fifth in the 400 meter hurdles in a quick field of 25. The senior clocked in at 53.79 seconds, also his second best time of this outdoor season.
• Shutt took charge in the 400 meter dash with time of 49.90 seconds. He led his heat overall and crossed the line 14th of 23 overall.

Wittenberg travels to Denison on Friday to compete in the Last Chance Meet before the NCAC Championships the following weekend.
