Both Track and Field Programs Finish Fourth at Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open

CEDARVILLE, Ohio—Both Wittenberg track and field programs were in action this weekend at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open hosted by Cedarville University, and both team's emerged with fourth place finishes. The men's fourth place team finish came in a steep field of ten teams, while the women's fourth place team finish came out of a field of nine teams. The Tigers had a plethora of student-athletes score on the day, with a total of four first-place individual finishes on the day. In total, there were ten top-six finishes on the women's side, led by Jordan Crow (North Las Vegas, Nevada/Palo Verde), and eleven on the men's side, led by Laike Wallace (Washington Courthouse, Ohio/Washington).

WOMEN'S TOP 6'S

  • Crow had a stellar day at Cedarville, taking home first place honors in the long jump with a distance of 5.34 meters, first in the 400 meter-hurdles at 1:06.81, and fourth in the 100 meter-hurdles with a finals time of 15.70 seconds.
  • Becah Delp (York, Pennsylvania/Eastern York) also earned a first place finish for Wittenberg on the day, as the senior won the triple-jump with a distance of 11.08 meters, and also earned a second place finish in the high-jump at 1.53 meters.
  • Delp's day was not done there, capping off the meet with a fifth place finish in the 100 meter-hurdles at 16.17 seconds.
  • Sara Richards (Columbus, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) performed well enough on the day to earn a pair of fourth place finishes, one in the 100 meter-dash with a time of 13.00 seconds, and another in the 200 meter-dash with a finals mark of 26.80 seconds.
  • In the 400 meter-dash, Alaina Longshore (Columbus, Ohio/Franklin Heights) earned a fourth place finish after running a finals time of 1:01.51.
  • The field portion of Saturday's meet was highlighted by Anissa Dann (Hiram, Maine/Sacopee Valley) who earned a fifth place finish for the Tigers in the hammer throw with a finals distance of 38.74 meters.

MEN'S TOP 6'S

  • Wallace earned the only first-place finish for the men on the day, as the senior completed the 400 meter-hurdles finals with a time of 54.61 seconds, while also earning second place honors in the 110 meter-hurdles at 15.38 seconds.
  • In the javelin throw, senior Justin Fisher (Fort Wayne, Indiana/Carroll) finished in second place for the Tigers, with a distance of 49.24 meters.
  • Freshman Kyle Farnbauch (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) enjoyed a stellar day at Cedarville, taking home fourth place in the 110 meter-hurdles at 16.47 seconds, as well as a fifth place finish in the 400 meter-hurdles at 58.29 seconds.
  • In the 100 meter-dash, fellow freshman Joshua Graham (Beacon, New York/Poughkeepsie) also took home a fourth place finish with a finals time of 11.20 seconds, as well as a sixth place finish in the 200 meter-dash at 22.91 seconds.
  • Ryan Hale (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) kept the trend going for the Tiger freshman, taking home a fourth place finish in the 400 meter-dash with a finals time of 51.24 seconds.
  • Tayvone Morton (Dayton, Ohio/Belmont) shined bright for Wittenberg in the high jump, as the freshman finished fourth after clearing 1.78 meters.
  • In the discus, it was a duo of freshman that earned honors as Eric Cospey (Trotwood, Ohio/Madison) finished fourth at 42.24 meters, and Curtis Quimby (Plain City, Ohio/Fairbanks) finished fifth at 40.66 meters.

UP NEXT

  • Both Tiger programs look to continue their success in 2016 as they travel to the Centre College Invitational in Kentucky April 2.
