Season Outlook

Wittenberg University men's track and field program is prepared to reenter a new era of success after winning five straight North Coast Athletic Conference Championships during the mid-90s with three titles in outdoor and two in indoor. The Tigers have slowly built a competitve program setting new school records with each season and with first year head coach Steve Shutt, the Tigers are ready to race to the top of the NCAC.

The Tigers return a host of upperclassmen from last season's squad that finished second at the Outdoor Conference Championships and is expected to continue its successful run as it bids for the top spot in the NCAC. Heading the list of returners are senior sprinters Reggie Pace (Columbus, Ohio/Hartley) and Ted Pickett(University Hts./Ohio. Benedictine). Both are expected to provide contributions in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Also expected to contribute for the Tigers in the hurdles and the decathlon is junior Josh Guerrieri (Avon, Ohio/Avon). Guerriere had top performances for Wittenberg last season at the NCAC Championships in both areas. In throws, expect to see continued improvement from junior Kevin Callison (Springfield, Ohio/Kenton Ridge), who earned All-NCAC honors last season in the shot put.

Wittenberg also welcomes a strong class of recruits who are expected to make immediate contributions for the Tigers. In distance events, Justin Bradshaw(Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) made great strides in cross country this fall and is expected to play a role in this year's success. Also look for contributions from freshman Pete Lalli (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville), Curtis Lundgren (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance), and Nate Dean (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover)

The Tigers are looking to regain their conference titles from 1997, continue to set new school records and build a successful program into the new year.
