Men's Tennis opens conference play with 9-0 loss to No. 13 Denison

SPRINGFIELD — The Wittenberg men's tennis team opened its North Coast Athletic Conference schedule with a 9-0 loss to No. 13 Denison on Saturday.

The Basics

  • Denison is ranked No. 13 nationally in the latest ITA NCAA Division III rankings, which were released on Wednesday. This season, the Big Red have played six teams ranked inside the top 50 of this week's rankings, going 4-2 against that group.
  • Wittenberg is now 10-44 all-time against Denison.

  • Junior Ethan Libby (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) and senior Kyle Fout (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) fell 1-8 at No. 1 doubles, junior Mark Trinka (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest) and freshman Sven Van den Eerenbeemt (S-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands/Gymnasium Beekvliet) fell 0-8 at No. 2, and freshmen Jacob Bennett (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) and Henry Smith-Heston (Yellow Springs, Ohio/Yellow Springs) fell 1-8 at No. 3.
  • Libby fell 3-6, 1-6 at No. 1 singles, Trinka fell 0-6, 2-6 at No. 2, Fout fell 0-6, 1-6 at No. 3, Bennett fell 0-6, 0-6 at No. 4, frehsman Andrew Garofoli (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) fell 0-6, 0-6 at No. 5, and Van den Eerenbeemt fell 0-6, 2-6 at No. 6.
