Tigers Dominate Transylvania Fall Invite

Lexington, KY – The Wittenberg University men's tennis team traveled to Kentucky for the Transylvania Invitational, where they took on Wabash College, Ausbury University and the host Transylvania Pioneers.

The Tigers came out of the gate on day one with a clean sweep of North Coast Atlantic Conference foe Wabash 8-0. John DeVito and Jake Stockhausen both went the distance in their matches. Devito took his match by a score of 7-6 (3), 4-6, 1-0 (5). Stockhausen earned the 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (5) win in the tiebreaker third set. Brayden Kopp made quick work of his Wabash opponent with scores of 6-1 and 6-0. Ethan Libby took down his opposition by same final tally. Connor Ruble did not drop a game on the day, picking up the 6-0, 6-0 victory. Joe Patton, Hayden Durant and Mark Trinka rounded out the sweep of the Little Giants.

Wittenberg returned to action later that evening, earning their second sweep of the afternoon, taking seven courts from host Transylvania. This time, it was Libby going the distance, earning the win for the Tigers, 6-4, 6-7 and finishing 1-0 in the tiebreaker.

Wittenberg returned to action against Ausbury University on day two of the Transylvania Invitational, with Kopp, Ruble and Trinka picking up singles wins for the Tigers.

The Tigers kept a clean sheet in their matches against Wabash and Transylvania, sweeping both the Little Giants and Pioneers in the doubles portion of the competition.
