Meadville, Pennsylvania – After falling behind, 2-1, after doubles play, the Wittenberg University Men's Tennis team won the top four flights in singles action to pick up the 5-4 come-from-behind victory over Allegheny in an NCAC cross-divisional match on Friday afternoon in Meadville. Senior Timmy McNulty secured the match-clinching point for the Tigers after earning a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (12-10) win over Zach Anderson in the fourth flight. The win pushes Wittenberg's overall record to 9-5 on the season, with the Tigers now holding a 1-2 record against NCAC foes overall and an 0-1 mark in NCAC West play.

Who Stood Out

Senior Martin Mora and freshman Joe Patton combined to earn the Tigers' lone point in the doubles portion of the match, as the duo topped Allegheny's top tandem of Matt Andrus and Wonjoon Cho by an 8-6 margin.

Mora and Patton than went on to post convincing wins in singles action, with Mora topping Cho 6-2, 6-1 in the top flight and Patton posting an identical scoreline of 6-2, 6-1 over Colton JohnsonTaylor in the third flight. After rookie Gavin Tay picked up the fourth team point with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Andrus in the second flight, McNulty delivered his heroics with the thrilling come-from-behind win over Anderson in the fourth flight.

Wittenberg will now return home for a three-match stand against NCAC West opponents, starting with a 4:30 p.m. match against No. 26 Denison next Wednesday (4/10) in Springfield. Following the match against the Big Red, the Tigers than host DePauw on Friday (4/12) at 5:00 p.m., before closing out the homestand with a 10:00 am match against Wabash on Saturday (4/13).
