Wooster, Ohio – Despite taking a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition, the Wittenberg University Men's Tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision against Wooster in an NCAC Cross-Divisional match on Sunday at the Aspen Racquet Club in Wooster. The Tigers now own an overall record of 8-5 on the season, which includes an 0-1 mark in NCAC West play after dropping a 6-3 match against OWU on March 20th.

Who Stood Out

After Wittenberg's second doubles team was swept to open the match, the Tigers quickly regained the momentum in the match with back-to-back wins from the first and third flight tandems. Senior Timmy McNulty and freshman Gavin Tay picked up the first point with an 8-2 win in the third position, while senior Martin Mora and freshman Joe Patton went on to post an 8-6 win in the top flight against Austin Hanna and Nathan Devereux.

However, that would be the last point the Tigers would earn in the match as the Scots posted a perfect 6-0 record in singles action. Tay put up the toughest fight in singles play as he dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision against Hanna in the third flight.
