Angola, Indiana – In a match that was played to decision, the Wittenberg University Men's Tennis team topped Trine by a 5-1 margin on Saturday afternoon at the Ryan Tennis Center in Northeast Indiana. The win pushes Wittenberg's overall record to 8-4 on the season, which includes an 8-3 mark against non-conference opponents.

Who Stood Out

While Wittenberg did open the match by dropping its lone point at third doubles, the Tigers quickly rebounded and took a 2-1 lead with a pair of wins in the top two doubles fights. Senior Martin Mora and freshman Gavin Tay logged the first point with an 8-3 win in the top flight, while senior Timmy McNulty and freshman Joe Patton grinded out an 8-5 win in the second flight to close out doubles play.

The Tigers than made quick work of the Thunder in the top three singles flights to secure the 5-1 team victory. Tay finished first at third singles with a clean sweep, 6-0, 6-0, of Jaxon Davis, while Mora wasn't far off with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Blake Trusty in the top flight. Finally, Patton earned the match-clinching point in the second flight with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Jacob Weiss.
