Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg University Men's Tennis team opened the league portion of its 2018-19 schedule with a 6-3 loss against Ohio Wesleyan in NCAC West action on Wednesday afternoon at the Albright Tennis Courts. With the loss, the Tigers now own an overall record of 7-4 on the season, with an 0-1 mark in NCAC West play.
Who Stood Out
The Tigers got out of the gates slow in the match, with the rookie duo of Joe Patton and Gavin Tay picking up the lone doubles win with an 8-2 victory in the second flight.
In singles action, Tay cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Ben Stein in the fourth flight, while senior Martin Mora improved to 9-0 on the season in the top flight in Div. III dual matches with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Jack Hibbard.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will now hit the road for two non-conference matches in Indiana over the course of the next four days, first taking on Trine on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., before visiting Hanover next Monday (3/25) for a 4:00 p.m. start.
