Nicholasville, Kentucky – Highlighted by a dramatic come-from-behind win in the top singles flight by senior Martin Mora, the Wittenberg Men's Tennis team opened their Spring Break southern swing with a thrilling 6-2 win over Transylvania on Friday night at the Bluegrass Racket Club.

Who Stood Out

Wittenberg came out of the doubles competition with a 2-1 lead as Mora and classmate Luke Minard were victorious in the top flight, to go along with a third flight victory from the rookie tandem of Gavin Tay and Joe Patton.

Mora, who is now a combined 10-0 on the season between first singles and first doubles, dropped a 6-2 decision in the opening set of first singles. However, he rebounded over the final two sets to complete the come-from-behind victory with a 6-2 win of his own in the second set, before closing out the match with a 6-4 decision in the decisive third set. Also logging singles victories for the Tigers against the Pioneers was Tay in the fourth flight, 6-1, 6-2, Minard in the fifth flight, 6-0, 6-2, and senior Kieren Thomas in the sixth flight by a 6-1, 7-6 (2) margin.
