Lima, Ohio – The Wittenberg University Men's Tennis team opened the spring portion of its 2018-19 season with a narrow 6-3 loss against Ohio Northern on Saturday (2/16) afternoon at the Westwood Tennis Center in Lima, Ohio.

Who Stood Out

The senior duo of Martin Mora and Timmy McNulty were both double winners for the Tigers in the three-point loss against the Polar Bears. The veteran combo opened the match with a convincing 8-4 win in the top doubles flight against Vinh Thai and Zach Beaschler. While Mora and McNulty picked up the lone doubles win for the Tigers in the match, senior Kieren Thomas and sophomore Nathan Baulch also battled tough in the third position, dropping a heartbreaking 8-7 (7-3) decision against the ONU tandem of Connor Christian and Nate Meadors.

In singles action, Mora improved to 3-0 on the season at the top flight in dual matches with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Vinh Thai, while McNulty earned his first singles win of the season in the fifth flight with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Andrew Cochran.

The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow (2/17) afternoon at 12:00 p.m. with a non-conference match against Centre College at the Schroeder Tennis Center in Tipp City, Ohio.
