SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg men's and women's tennis teams posted matching results on a busy day. Both defeated visiting Concordia (Mich.) by a wide margin on the courts at Albright Tennix Complex before moving indoors to Five Seasons in Dayton and losing to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Allegheny.

The split decision left the Tiger men with an overall record of 6-10, while the Tiger women are 3-11. The match against Allegheny did not count against the Tigers' NCAC West Division record.

Against Concordia, the Tiger men were awarded two points by walkover as the visitors had just five players on the trip. The matches that were played were won by lopsided scores, starting with doubles decisions for freshmen Luke Minard (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) and Timmy McNulty (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) at No. 1 and junior Akbar Tiwana (Lahore, Pakistan/Aitchison) and senior Dennis Gleason (Gahanna, Ohio/St. Charles) at No. 2.

In singles, freshman Matt Arroyo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton), Minard, McNulty, Gleason and freshman Kieren Thomas (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming) were winners across the first five courts. Wittenberg surrendered just one game in those five matches.

The script was flipped later in the day. The match was moved indoors due to inclement weather, and the Gators jumped on top with a doubles sweep. In singles, Minard and McNulty nearly broke through for the Tigers, as each lost a third-set tiebreaker decision while playing the second and third positions.
