Tigers Wrap Up Spring Break Trip With Win Over Northwestern (Minn.)

TAMPA, Fla. - The Wittenberg Tigers put the finishing touches on a solid week of training and competition in the Sunshine State with a 6-3 win over Northwestern (Minn.).

The win pushed the Tigers' overall record back to 5-7. Wittenberg went 3-3 during its Spring Break week in Central Florida.

The Tigers started out behind after Northwestern took two of the three doubles matches. Wittenberg's lone win came at No. 3 as the tandem of junior Sean Munson (Chicago, Ill./Roycemore) and freshman Alex Sarihan (New Carlisle, Ohio/Tecumseh) won 8-5.

In singles, Wittenberg won five of six matches, keyed by clutch first-set tiebreaker victories at No. 3 and No. 6 by freshmen Timmy McNulty (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) and Kieren Thomas (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming), respectively. Both Tigers went on to win in straight sets.

Freshman Matt Arroyo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) won at No. 1 singles, freshman Luke Minard (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) won at No. 2 singles and senior Dennis Gleason (Gahanna, Ohio/St. Charles) rounded things out with a win at No. 5.
