ORLANDO, Fla. - The Wittenberg Tigers continued their 2016 Spring Break trip to the Sunshine State with a 1-3 record over two busy days.

After losing 9-0 to Lake Forest and Ursinus and 6-3 to Juniata, the Tigers wrapped up the busy mid-week stretch with a 5-4 win over Cornell (Iowa). Wittenberg heads into its Spring Break finale against Northwestern (Minn.) with a record of 4-7.

The Tigers may not have won a point against Lake Forest, but the Foresters certainly didn't win comfortably across the board. In doubles, the Tiger tandem of senior Dennis Gleason (CGahanna, Ohio/St. Charles) and junior Sean Munson (Chicago, Ill./Roycemore) lost a tiebreaker at No. 3, and Gleason followed that with a three-set defeat in singles at No. 5. Freshman Matt Arroyo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) also split sets before dropping a tiebreaker at No. 2.

It was a similar story against Ursinus, where the No. 1 doubles tandem of freshman Luke Minard (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) and freshman Timmy McNulty (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) lost a tiebreaker by a 9-7 score. McNulty followed that up with a near-miss at No. 3 singles as he lost a third-set tiebreaker 14-12.

Against Juniata, the picked up a doubles win at the No. 1 position as McNulty and Minard earned an 8-5 decision. Arroyo stepped into the No. 1 singles spot and won a third-set tiebreaker, and freshman Alex Sarihan (New Carlisle, Ohio/Tecumseh) added a three-set victory at No. 6 singles. The match swung in Juniata's direction on two other three-setters as Minard fell at No. 2 and Munson lost at No. 5.

Wittenberg got back on the winning track against Cornell, starting with doubles wins by Arroyo and junior Akbar Tiwana (Lahore, Pakistan/Aitchison) at No. 2 and Gleason and Munson at No. 3. In singles, Wittenberg closed out the match with straight-set wins by Gleason at No. 5 and Munson at No. 6 and a three-set decision recorded by Tiwana at No. 4.
