DELAWARE, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's tennis team fell by a 7-2 score on the road to Ohio Wesleyan in a North Coast Athletic Conference West Division match on Tuesday.
The Tigers are now 1-12 overall and 0-3 in divisional play.
The Tigers took the top two singles matchups but dropped the third through sixth spots and all three doubles matches.
Freshman Martin Mora (Quito, Ecuador) won 6-2, 6-2 over Ohio Wesleyan's Elliot Garwood in first singles, and senior Alexey Topolyanskiy (Moscow, Russia/School 712) defeated the Bishops' Jakraraj Rungaseng by a 6-1, 6-1 count.
Mora and Topolyanskiy teamed up at No. 1 doubles and gave a good fight, falling by an 8-6 score.
The match followed a suspended contest against Cedarville University, which was stopped with the Yellow Jackets leading 2-1. Mora and Topolyanskiy won their No. 1 doubles contest before action was terminated.
The Tigers next head to the MIAA-NCAC Challenge hosted by Hope College in Holland, Mich., where they will face Alma and Hope on Friday, April 10, and Calvin on Saturday, April 11.
