St. Scholastica, Texas-Tyler Take Decisions Off Tigers

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Wittenberg men's tennis team fell to St. Scholastica by a 7-2 score on Wednesday during Spring Break action.

Senior Alexey Topolyanskiy (Moscow, Russia/School 712) won in straight sets at No. 1 singles, and sophomore Akbar Tiwana (Lahore, Pakistan/Aitchison) scrapped his way to a 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 win at No. 5 singles.

Senior JiaLang Woo (Shanghai, China/Yew Chung Int. School) and junior Dennis Gleason (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles) gave the best fight in doubles action but fell 8-6 in the second spot.

The loss on Wednesday came after a 9-0 loss to Texas-Tyler on Tuesday in which Topoylanskiy and Tiwana fought hard in an 8-3 loss in first doubles.

The Tigers wrap up Spring Break competition in Florida with a doubleheader on Friday, March 13, against St. Ambrose at 11 a.m. and Connecticut College at 3:30 p.m.
