RICHMOND, Ind. - The Wittenberg Tigers kicked off the dual match portion of their 2014-15 season with a dominating 8-1 victory at Indiana University East.

The win gave Wittenberg some much-needed momentum heading into the winter break from competition. The Tigers, who handed Nick Rohner his first victory as the team's men's head coach, will return to action in February against Wright State in an indoor match before heading back outside for the annual Spring Break trip, this year to Orlando, Fla.

Wittenberg started off the match with two wins in three doubles matches. The tandem of freshman Martin Mora (Quito, Ecuador) and junior Stas Pakhomov (Richmond, British Columbia/Sir Winston Churchill) won 8-3 at No. 1 and senior JiaLang Woo (Shanghai, China/Yew Chung Int. School) and sophomore Sean Munson (Chicago, Ill./Roycemore) won 8-1 at No. 3.

The Tigers then put the match with a singles sweep, starting with a 6-0, 6-0 whitewashing by Mora at No. 1. Pakhomov nearly matched that score at No. 2, followed by a three-set win by Woo at No. 3. Rounding things out were junior Dennis Gleason (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles), Munson and freshman Stefan Thornberry (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) at the 4, 5 and 6 positions, respectively.

IU East capped its fall season with a 5-5 record.
