Springfield, Ohio — Wittenberg University women's tennis standouts Kristin Wright, class of 2013 from Akron, Ohio, Jessica Coggins, class of 2014 from Geneva, Ohio, Jayne Miely, class of 2011 from Columbus, Ohio, and Emma Bilyeu, class of 2014 from Terre Haute, Ind., have earned 2011 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Academic Awards.

The Tiger scholar athletes were among 432 NCAA Division III recipients of 2011 ITA Academic Awards. To make the list, a player must maintain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average while earning a varsity letter.

Miely is one of the finest players in program history, finishing her career with records of 49-20 in singles and 47-24 in doubles. She earned All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) honors in singles following each of her four collegiate seasons.

Wright contributed a 9-9 singles record while primarily playing the No. 6 position in 2010-11 after going 5-2 as a freshman. Coggins went 4-0 in singles and 1-3 in doubles in her inaugural collegiate campaign, while Bilyeu earned a spot in the starting line-up, posting a team-best 13-5 doubles record with fellow freshman Leah Ann Miller, class of 2014 from Springfield, Ohio.

Ranked in the top 20 in the ITA's Central Region, the Tigers broke a school record for wins in a season by a wide margin, topping the previous high total of 15 with a 19-6 overall record. In the NCAC, Wittenberg finished 3-3 in the regular season before taking fifth place in the conference tournament.
