Tigers Bounce Back To Beat Transylvania

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Powered by a doubles sweep, the Wittenberg Tigers put together a convincing 7-2 win over visiting Transylvania in non-conference men's tennis action at the Albright Tennis Complex.

Coming just three days after an 8-1 loss to NAIA power Walsh, the win moved the Tigers back to four games above .500 at 8-4. It was the second match in eight days for the Tigers, who next travel to Division I Dayton on Friday before returning home to host Capital on Sunday, March 28.

Four Wittenberg players were double winners in the match, starting with juniorBobby Fisher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln), who won at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles. Freshman Sergio Fishkin (Minsk, Belarus) added wins at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles, while senior Rob Lehner (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) and junior Andy Lamb (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) teamed up for the win at No. 3 doubles. Lehner added a victory at No. 5 singles and Lamb rounded things out with a win at No. 6 singles when his opponent retired late in the first set.
