Harting is a native of Farmersville, Ohio where she swam 4 years for Valley View High School and 3 years for the Greater Miami Valley YMCA.

She just recently finished 4 years of Division II swimming at Urbana University where she specialized in distance freestyle and IM, and was a 4 year letter winner. Harting helped her team achieve 8 consecutive semester Scholar All-American Team Honors from the CSCAA, was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma Athlete's National Honor Society, and was awarded the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award in 2017.

Harting helped coach the Middletown Special Olympics swim team in 2012, and spent 4 summers (2014-2017) coaching age group swimmers in the Butler County swim league. 

Harting graduated in May 2017 from Urbana University with a degree in Business Management and Marketing, and a minor in Human Resources. She was also awarded the Outstanding Business Management Student for 2016-2017 school year.
