Men's, Women's Swimming and Diving continue posting solid times on Day 2 of NCAC Championships

GRANVILLE — The Wittenberg men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued posting impressive times on the second of four days of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships at Denison University on Thursday. On the day, 83% of individual swims saw improvements from their prelims swim and both relays dropped tremendous amounts of time from their seed times.

  • The Wittenberg men have scored 153 points and are currently in eighth place of nine teams, while the women have scored 245 points and are currently in sixth place of eight teams.
  • Denison currently leads the men's standings with 677 points, while Kenyon leads the women's standings with 712.5 points.

Wittenberg Highlights

  • Senior Mackenzie Schuld (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River) and sophomore McKenna Clark (Waynesville, Ohio/Carroll) qualified for finals in the women's 500 free. In the prelims, Schuld placed 19th in 5:23.26, and Clark was 25th in 5:38.69.
  • Freshman Sophie Paskiet (Toledo, Ohio/St. Ursula) qualified for finals in the women's 200 IM by placing 16th in the prelims in 2:18.61.
  • Sophomore Shania Stone (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) and junior Jenna Hallett (Delta, Ohio/Delta) qualified for finals in the women's 50 free. In the prelims, Stone finished 14th in 24.78 seconds, and Hallett was 26th in 28.47 seconds.
  • In the women's 1-meter diving prelims, freshman Rebekah Lebold (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon) was 11th with 275.55 points, and sophomore Macy DeHart (Springfield, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) was 13th with 216.80 points.
  • Senior Zach Parkman (Lancaster, Ohio/Fisher Catholic) qualified for finals in the men's 200 IM by placing 22nd in 1:59.13 in the prelims. He finished 25th in the finals in 1:59.80.
  • Stone built on her qualifying time in the women's 50 free finals, finishing in 14th place in 24.62 seconds. Her time was 0.16 seconds faster than her seed time and improved her fourth-fastest time in school history. Hallett placed 25th in 27.80 seconds, which marked a personal-best and was he first time going under 28 seconds.
  • In the women's 500 free finals, Schuld finished 20th in 5:21.82. Clark dropped seven seconds from her 14-second time drop in the prelims to earn a personal-best time of 5:31.71 and place 23rd.
  • Paskiet placed 15th in the women's 200 IM finals in 2:15.38. Her time was one second faster than her previous personal-best.
  • The women's 400 medley relay team of Clark, Paskiet, Schuld and Stone finished in fifth place with a time of 4:08.67.
  • The men's 400 medley relay team of Parkman and sophomores Jon Wasky (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont), Mason Steen (Leroy, Ohio/Riverside) and Drew Vincent (Fleming, Ohio/Warren) finished in eighth with a time of 3:47.43.
