Men's, Women's Swimming and Diving compete in relays on Day 1 of NCAC Championships

GRANVILLE — The Wittenberg men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in relay events on the first of four days of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships at Denison University on Wednesday. The Tigers posted impressive finishes, as 75% of their leadoff legs earned a personal-best time, and each of the relay teams dropped time.

Wittenberg Highlights

  • The Wittenberg men placed ninth in the 800 free relay in 7:48.18. The relay team consisted of sophomores Drew Vincent (Fleming, Ohio/Warren), John Wasky (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) and Owen Gabel (New Bremen, Ohio/New Bremen) and freshman Aidan Dannenfelser (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier).
  • Vincent, Gabel, sophomore Mason Steen (Leroy, Ohio/Riverside) and senior Zach Parkman (Lancaster, Ohio/Fisher Catholic) placed seventh in the 200 medley relay in 1:40.76.
  • Vincent broke 24 seconds for the first time in the 50 free leg of the 200 medley relay by touching the wall in 23.13 seconds.
  • Gabel split 2 seconds faster than his personal-best time in his leg of the 800 free relay with a time of 1:50.99.
  • The Wittenberg women placed seventh in the 800 free relay in 8:35.04. The relay team consisted of senior Mackenzie Schuld (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River), junior Jenna Hallett (Delta, Ohio/Delta), sophomore Addy Payne (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney) and freshman Sophie Paskiet (Toledo, Ohio/St. Ursula).
  • Schuld, Paskiet and sophomores McKenna Clark (Waynesville, Ohio/Carroll) and Shania Stone (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) placed sixth in the 200 medley relay in 1:52.86.
  • Schuld earned a personal-best time in the leadoff leg of the 800 free relay in 1:59.31.
  • Stone split under the 50 free varsity record in her split in the 200 medley relay with a time of 23.99 seconds.
